The course includes 12 recipes that you can complete within your own timeframe over a 2 year period. We do, however, encourage you to complete 2-3 recipes per week over a 4-6 week period, in order to maintain engagement and momentum.
How long do the recipes take?
Each recipe would probably take an adult between 3-10 minutes to make, however cooking with children always takes longer, so I’d factor in 30 minutes per recipe.
Do I have to watch the videos whilst I’m cooking or can I just study the recipes beforehand?
You may find it fun and helpful to watch the videos together beforehand, however it’s not essential, as each recipe has of clear instructions.
What equipment do I need?
You will require basic cooking equipment such as baking trays, mixing bowls, spoons and an electric whisk. All the equipment that you need for each dish is listed at the beginning of the recipe.
Are the ingredients expensive?
No. Most recipes use simple, readily available ingredients and store cupboard basics.
My child has food allergies, can they still do the course?
It depends what your child’s food allergies are. Some of the recipes include gluten and most contain some form of dairy. One recipe includes nuts, as an additional option. Please contact me directly if you have any concerns.
What if I can’t cook?
Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place! The recipes are so simple and easy to follow that even the most novice cook can have confidence. Your child will love learning to cook with you.
Are there any hidden costs?
There are no hidden costs. The introductory price of £29.99 includes the recipes, videos, support, chefs hat, certificate and p&p. You can purchase a personalised apron for an additional fee from £15.99.
What if I have more than one child?
There is an additional child fee of £9.99, which includes a chefs hat, certificate and p&p.
Can I pay in instalments?
No, there is an upfront, one off introductory fee of just £29.99
How long is the course available to me for once I buy it?
The course will be available to you for 2 years from the purchase date. You can, however, download all of the recipes as soon as you’ve paid your membership fee.
Do I have to be online at certain times to do the course?
No. The course is self driven and accessible to you anytime within 2 years from purchase.
If I drop out/miss a class will I be refunded?
No. You can do the lessons over a 2 year time period and download all recipes to keep and cook again and again.
What happens when I complete the course?
I will be notified once you’ve completed each recipe and send your child their Kids Chef Course certificate and chefs hat.
Is it a recognised qualification?
The Dotty’s Kitchin Kids Chef Course certificate is not currently an official qualification, however it is in line with Key Stage 3 Cooking & Nutrition national curriculum guidelines.
Is Dotty a real person?
Yes! Dotty’s is my daughter, a fussy eater turned little chef, who wants to help other children get excited about cooking and eating good food.
